Stolen Childhoods, Part 2

Please see Part 1 of this post.
Child labor is a complicated issue, and is the result of failures in political, economic, cultural and religious systems. In Part 2, I will discuss what you can do to help impact problems in one or more of the systems.
- learn about the issue. Here are a few links to organizations working to eliminate child labor
- Child Labor Coalition
- Child Rights Information Network
- Unicef
- links regarding problems with IMF
- Do not purchase products that are produced using child labor. This can be suprisingly difficult, as so many of the products sold in the US are produced directly or indirectly using child labor. Here are a few links to sites with more information on where products come from and how they are produced.
- Get involved
- write to your Senators and Congressman inform them on the problem of child labor, and let them know you want the US to do something about it (find your congressman)
- write to companies that knowingly use child labor
- donate to a charity aimed at solving the problem of child labor worldwide

Neil,
Your point that it is a "complicate issue" is correct, yet I would disagree or rather here is a different view. That what you see as "failures in political, economic... systems" are not failures per se at all for those responsible. Maybe it is a complete success as planned and we only view it as a failure from our point of view/perspective. Thanks for the info - I'll definitely have a look.

Also, as an individual pointed out the other night after watching the video, we all have a part in the "failure" and we, each as individuals, have a choice to understand the issues and look at how we contribute to the "failure".
